´Sup!?

I´ve decided to start a new blog because I used to blog and I gotta tell you,
I´ve missed it!
I´ll be posting some jokes, facts about random things, funny pictures I come across and things like "What´s going on where nowadays". I watch a lot of documentaries on Netflix and I´ll be sharing with you the ones I find interesting and/or educational. Sometimes I might have a quiz for my readers and I´d love it if you could participate, but you don´t have to if you don´t feel like it.

I´d also like to introduce to you some common slang in English, phrasal verbs and idioms.

So basically just sharing some knowledge!

Holla at me!!

If you have a request for a topic you´d like me to talk about, feel free to either send me an e-mail or comment in my comment section here below.

Also, if you have any questions regarding English like grammar, vocabulary or spelling I´m just a few words away.

So maybe I should tell you a bit about myself.

My name is Kristín
I´m 37 years old (or was it 25 - I can´t seem to remember?!)
I´m married to Filipe Cintra from Brazil
I have a 2 1/2 year old daughter who´s the light of my life; Eva Lind

Taken in Brazil 2017

I currently work at the elementary school in Hella but I´m also studying to become a teacher at the University of Iceland (Háskóli Íslands). My main focus is to become an English teacher but I´d also like to study more about biology, science, Icelandic and Danish.

I love learning new languages, traveling and meeting new people!

About an hour drive from San Francisco, CA.

I lived in San José, California for almost 5 years from 2003-2008. Originally I went to California to visit my mom and I had only planned on staying for 6 months.
What can I say... I fell in love with the place, vibe and weather and I decided to apply for college and study. I had always avoided science and math in college but despite that I decided to study to become a nurse. Because I had focused on languages and history during my college years in Iceland I had to take four years of pre-requisites (bunch of math, science, psychology and even political science) at De Anza College to enter the R.N. program (to become a nurse).

As an international student in California I was paying 2000 dollars per quarter (1 quarter = 3 months). Today that´s almost 200.000 krónur and
I´m pretty sure the price has gone up since then.

If money could talk it´d say "Good-bye"

As the economy went bad in 2008, I moved to Recife, Brazil.

I took a teacher´s course at Britanic which is a private English school, and I got a job as a full time teacher.

Britanic, Setúbal

My interest in become a teacher grew enormously and since then that´s all I´ve wanted to do.

After I had my baby girl Eva Lind in 2015 I decided that it was time to move back home to Iceland and get a degree from the University there.

So sassy!

-----

I think that´s enough for today
I´ve had a lot to say
I´ll leave you with just one more
before your eyes get sore

Sore eyes

Did you know?

"A sight for sore eyes" lauslega þýtt yfir á íslensku þýðir "sjón fyrir særð augu".

Ef þú ert til dæmis út í búð og hundleiðist í langri röð en sérð svo besta vin þinn labba inn, þá gætirðu sagt:

"Ahhh, a sight for sore eyes" = Mikið er ég glaður að sjá þig

Líka hægt að nota þegar maður er að tala um einhvern sem er einstaklega myndarleg/ur
